The Asian group originated from a cross between a Burmese and a Persian Chinchilla. Kittens from this cross are highly silvered shorthairs, but their fur is not as short as that of Burmese.

These cats are called Burmillas.

However by the second generation, a huge number of colours and patterns are possible.

In FIFe, Burmillas are shaded silver shorthairs. Cats from the same parentage which are anything other than shaded silver shorthairs are called Asians and are as yet an unrecognised breed in FIFe.

The group includes tabbies, selfs and smokes in both shorthair and longhair varieties.
